District Orakzai
Orakzai District is a district in Kohat Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Until 2018, it was an agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas. With the merger of erstwhile FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it became a district. Before 1973, it was part of FR Kohat.
It has a population of 450,000 and area of 700 square miles (1,800 square kilometres). It is bounded in the north by district Khyber, in the east and south by Kohat and Hangu districts, and in the west by district Kurram.
The headquarter of the district is at Baber Mela. Orakzai District is currently subdivided into two tehsils:
- Lower Orakzai Tehsil
- Upper Orakzai Tehsil
District Courts Orakzai
After the merger of erstwhile FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in May 2018, the District Courts Orakzai were established in February-2019 by the august Peshawar High Court Peshawar. A first batch of four judges were posted on 25th February 2019, who took charge on 1st March 2019. The founding judges with their hard work and dedication made it possible to functional the District Courts Orakzai at Baber Mela, within 24hours of their posting.
